The Purdue Center for Regional Development helps communities and regions solve problems. One of our hallmark programs is Strategic Doing, which helps groups use an agile strategy approach to their challenges. Strategic Doing has gained traction in many different domains, including community development, health care, economic revitalization, and corporate strategy.
One of our fastest-growing areas is in engineering education. We’re already involved with two large initiatives – the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), managed by Stanford and VentureWell, and NSF’s Revolutionizing Engineering & Computer Science Departments (RED) . Between the two, there are more than 50 participating universities around the country, and we have other partnerships in the wings. We’re also working with the American Society for Engineering Education as they seek to redesign their organization. Last but not least, of course, we’re based at Purdue University – which boasts one of the country’s premier schools of engineering, and the oldest department of engineering education. There are great things happening all over the country, but we know there’s still lots of room for new thinking.
